History:
Rhapsody was a newcomer to the wrestling
industry in 2001, having not even gone through the normal independent circuits
on her way to the name legaues. Not a whole lot has been revealed about
her yet....her name is Alex Perkins who grew up in Baltimore as a singer,
dancer and aspiring actress. Once she graduated high school, she decided
to skip college altogether and go straight to L.A. in hopes of furthering
her career. As with any struggling beginning actress, she wasn't too terribly
successful. She played bit parts and served as an extra on various TV shows
but she never got the big break in the year and a half she lived in Cali.
In fact, the true reason she got into the wrestling business is that during
a tryout she met a fellow aspiring young actress named Conchita Hernandez
aka the wife of Thespian Express standout, Tragedy. The two befriended,
and Alexandra quickly became intrigued by the wrestling business....so
much so that she sought training from The Thespians themselves to get her
prepped for an entrance in.
She figured with her acting background and natural athleticism from dancing, that she had the basics for success. Thus she underwent an extensive training regimen for 6 months under the watchful eye of the Thespians and then she impressed James Crawford, the head of Full Contact Wrestling, enough with her tryout tape that he offered her a chance to be the new valet of the Thespian Express and young upstart Scion. She took on the name of Rhapsody and embarked on her wrestling career as the new millennium began.
But after 6+ months of wrestling in the FCW, Rhapsody has become one of the most dominant women's wrestlers in the sport. She had hindered efforts from both newcomer and veteran alike, as she defends the FCW Women's Title against all comers. Upset victories over the likes of Lollipop and Zoe Burgess, and wins against newer women such as Aeris De Lioncourt and Fire. Sheer domination of the division forced the FCW to close up it's women's division. Ever since, Rhapsody made the autograph rounds and managed various wrestlers waiting out the rest of her FCW contract. It finally ended, freeing her to join whatever league she wanted and she quickly decided to join the AGW at Speed Racer's behest. One of her old friends, Hope, was brought in and Rhapsody followed suit to join an already talented women's division.
After Hope's departure, Rhapsody decided to leave the AGW for greener pastures and try her luck against men in the Unified Wrestling League. And surprisingly, she has done quite well in doing it. She quickly joined up with Speed Racer in the UWL, and he was so impressed, he basically "gave" her his UWL Cruiserweight Title after the old finger poke of doom trick. And what was initially planned to be a joke turned into Rhapsody holding the Cruiserweight Title for months and months and months. No UWL Champion defended their belt as much as Rhapsody has with the Cruiserweight Title, and no UWL Champion has the win-loss record she does either. She's defeated legends and newcomers alike in becoming one of the greatest women in UWL history.
The UWL then split into 2 rosters, and Rhapsody lucked out in being on the same roster as her friend Speed Racer and bodyguards, the Warriors of Eternity. Her Cruiserweight Title became the Lightweight Title, and she defended against all sorts of different male opponents. The UWL kept throwing her into matches where she should have the disadvantage, and she beat all of the odds and ruined the careers of many unhappy male wrestlers. Once she lost the Title, she quickly retired from the UWL rings a success.
Rhapsody then went to the AGW, to replace Violet Morris as the representative female on AGW broadcasts. Actually, there were a couple other gals in between, but Rhaps assures us they aren't worth mentioning. She took over broadcasts and with her cynical wit, quickly became a popular fixture amongst some of the hardcore fans while making her cohort Wes Powers look like a fool when she could. Rhaps started out more or less neutral, but as time progressed she became more "into" the heels and made no bones about rooting for them.
When the AGW folded again in 2006, Rhapsody wasn't sure what to do. She ended up moving back to Beverly Hills, trying out for whatever TV or movie roles she could get, no matter how minor. She ended up getting invited to a celebrity poker game hosted by actor James Woods and Rhaps discovered that she had quite a knack at the poker table. Seeing the money that could be made playing professionally, Rhaps all but scrapped her acting career to move to Vegas and try her hand on the World Series Of Poker tour among others. And honestly, while she was far from an "elite" player, she did well enough to pay the bills...and it was certainly more than she was making playing "Bar Tramp #1" on CSI.
When the AGW reopened in 2008, Rhapsody was quickly on board. Before she got
into the business, she didn't have any loyalty to wrestling at all. However,
it's part of who she is, and she realizes it. And the fact that the shows are on
Wednesdays means she can still make all of the big weekend poker tournies across
the country. So it was a win-win situation for Rhaps. When she came back, she
was even MORE cynical and sarcastic....even hateful. But she still has a loyal
following, and she doesn't care what those who don't like her think anyway.
