History...
Davey started out in the wrestling business in the United Kingdom after being
trained by a Scottish great, Drew McDonald. It wasn't long before he made
himself a big name in England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales, catching the
attention of one John Wilcox along the way. In 2003 he decided to move to a
larger stage, and joined the Unified Wrestling League based in North America.
However, Davey didn't like what he found there, instead of the best wrestlers
and athletes to compete with, he found people with little or no talent earning
money through portraying a gimmick.
This drove him to join with his old friend Wilcox, as well as Robbie and Jalen
Victor Caven to form No Gimmicks Needed. Vowing to make the UWL the pinacle of
wrestling competition, the men set about attacking anyone who they deemed as
unworthy to call themselves a professional wrestler. During this time, Davey
personally retired two men from the business. NGN changed members over a period
of 2 and a half years, but Davey was always involved, even becoming leader of
the group. During this time in 2004, Davey began to show a strong sense of
morals that few suspected he had before. No longer just following orders, he set
about to defend innocent fans from harm, stand up to some of the monsters in the
company, and even run an unsuccessful Anti-Drugs campaign. In early 2005, the
group split for various different reasons.
Davey now fights alone in the UWL for the most part, although his cousins Debbie
and Donnie are almost always around, as non-wrestlers. The Scotsman still fights
for what he believes is right, and what's good for the company, but this has at
times put a strain upon his mental wellbeing, and his relationship with his
family. When his two cousins declared that they were signing up to compete in
AGW, Davey decided to join them. Partly just to have some fun and blow off steam
without the pressures of being one of the company's top contenders, but also as
a family activity which he hopes will make their relationships stronger.
