Bio:
Officially coming from an unknown area of Nepal, some historians suspect his original home is in Tibet despite his hosting at least one AGW event at a temple high in the mountains of Nepal. When not in the ring or being interviewed not much is known about the Black Mage, in fact no one seems to have a clear picture of his face without his masks and the few eye witness reports all seem to conflict.
The Black Mage and Dark Church established themselves as a force in both singles and tag matches from the very first formative years of the AGW. The Black Mage was often the unknown factor, as he was rarely performed predictably which both won and lost him several titles.
When not with the AGW, the Mage has spent most of his time either wrestling in Japan or in seclusion within the peaks of the Himalayans mountains of Nepal/Tibet.
The Black Mage returned in the latest era of the AGW and the Dark Church as a whole has performed well. However it’s still unclear how the Dark Rogue’s recent retirement will affect the Mage and Dark Church.
Now teamed up with the Black Knight and with a new Enchantress, Sakura Kudo, by his side, the Black Mage seems determined to have the Dark Church continue to make it’s presence felt within the AGW.
Catch Phrase/Line:
SHE IS THE DARKNESS!
Most Memorable Win:
"Title wins, with perhaps most notably the AGW Vs. The World Tag Team Tournament hold special memories of course. However every win brings glory to the Dark Church and is worth remembering. I do fondly recall a 70+ minute long Strap Match that I won against Doc Holiday which was a challenging matchup.”
Most Memorable Loss:
“I don’t actually remember losing this one. Many years ago in the early AGW days in an Ironman “First to 12 pinfalls” match against the legendary Vader. I was winning 10 – 7 before Vader knocked me out and took 6 easy pins in 30 seconds for the win.”
(from the Dark Church Hall Of Fame description....newer bio coming)
The Dark Church were easily one of the best tag teams in AGW history but they also were purely astounding in singles matches as well. The AGW was the first and only league that these two wrestled in as a team and between them, they held almost every single title in the AGW. With a formidable blend of power, speed, finesse and ring savvy, these two were virtually unstoppable in the ring and often their title reigns easily lasted over a month each. Another piece of proof about how good they are is that they won the first ever AGW Vs. The World Tag Team Tournament, defeating not only AGW Tag Teams, but teams all over the world. However, this also marked one of the last times the world would see the Dark Church in action. In late '98, their two year contract ran out, and having done more in those 2 years than most men can do in their entire careers, they decided to travel overseas to Japan. At the AVTW tournament, they met some Japanese promoters who begged for the Church to come there. Also, both men can be seen as special guest stars in various episodes of Hercules and Xena. As of the year 2000, both men are still active, although wrestling just a part time schedule while pursuing other interests. One day, both of these men may return to the AGW to try and regain some of their past glory. A notable problem is that the Black Knight, long considered the third member and thus overshadowed by these two, was left out of the Hall. This is part of the reason why he currently does not wrestle in the AGW. He refuses to wrestle for the AGW until his name is added beside his friends and alles.
