| Biography: |
Amethyst is the last of the Morris clan to become involved in the sport of wrestling. She always enjoyed watching it, and had some athletic ability, but she wanted to be the only one of her sisters to actually do something OTHER than wrestling. And she did just that.....rather than become a wrestler, Amethyst became one of the top young karate stars in all the world. She competed in numerous international tournaments in Greece and Japan, and while she only finished first once and as a runner up in a couple of these events, she was still given a lot of respect for her ability at such a young age. In fact, when Amethyst was 15, she was approached by legendary Japanese wrestler, Yoshiaki Fujiwara, at a karate tournament in Osaka. Fujiwara was familiar with the Morris family, and in fact wrestled Amethyst's father a few times in the 1960's. Master Fujiwara saw that Amethyst had even more potential than her sisters or brother at this time. She had the discipline for the fighting arts, since she had been doing karate for most of her life; and she was the most athletically gifted of the bunch, which was saying something. Fujiwara contacted Violet about the family allowing Amethyst to get training during the summers until she graduated high school, and the family agreed. Amethyst was trained to bring her martial arts skill in the wrestling world, and was taught submission maneuvers and the art of mat wrestling in a joint venture by Fujiwara and the Morris family themselves. Amethyst was trained for 2 years before her first match in Japan. She wrestled on undercards honing her skills for a long while before returning to the States and doing some indy shows. And then on her 19th birthday, she was given a present by Speed Racer, that being a contract to join him and his sister, Moonspell, in Third Millenium Wrestling. This is Amethyst's first big league chance, and she debuted along with Moonspell (as the Kindred) against the East-West Connection (Mina Miyagi and Beth Johnson) winning when Moonspell forced Miyagi to submit to the Spine Twister. Before she could fight in her first singles matchup, she was thrown into the Survivor Series style TMW tournament called Endgame with Darren Revel, Eddie Rantala and Shadow. Their team didn't fare that well, but even then Moonspell herself said that Amethyst has the brightest future of any woman she knows in the sport. Before the TMW closed down, Amethyst and Moonspell won the TMW Women's Tag Titles....belts that the pair still own. The rest of 1999 was uneventful as Moonspell and Amethyst continued to train together, and in 2000 Speed felt comfortable enough to let Amethyst and Moonspell into the AGW simultaneously. At first, Amethyst was quite fiery in her interviews, saying some things she probably shouldn't have said, and even raised the ire of some of the male AGW competitors, including the 500 pound Kang whom she later defeated in a shoot-fight tournament the AGW held. But as time went on, Amethyst moved into a more passive role, letting Moonspell do the bulk of the talking while she chose the "silent but deadly" approach. She had some modest success in her AGW career until it closed down in 2000. After that, much like her partner Moonspell, Amethyst took some time off from wrestling, fought in a couple martial arts tournaments and trained some of the new crop of wrestlers at Speed Racer's Wrestling Academy. Then in 2002, the AGW reopened, and Amethyst was quite literally the first person to sign back up.....she was working at the Academy the day Speed got the call from his bank allowing his loan to start the company, and she promptly signed a contract as soon as he could print one out. While working at the wrestling school in 2001 and 2002, Amethyst met a young competitor from West Virginia named Eric Von Doom. The two instantly clicked....they had similar interests: They liked the same bands, they liked the same movies, and they liked the same food. Amethyst had always been too busy in school with her studies and her martial arts to bother with a boyfriend, but she and Eric had too much in common NOT to go out. The two have been inseparable ever since, and eventually got married in a very small ceremony in Tokyo, Japan. The wedding party included a few AGW superstars, and many of the people they trained with at the Wrestling Academy, as well as Yoshiaki Fujiwara himself. Now in 2006, Amethyst plans on still being a very active part of the AGW to help get it back off the ground. |
