Cruel and Unusual
(As the words fade from the screen, the traditional FCTV intro plays. As it comes to a close, we cut to a live shot of the FCW Arena. The crowd is hot tonight. We are two weeks away from what is being billed as the sickest, most violent night in FCW’s blood-soaked history and you can feel it in the air. After panning the rabid crowd for several seconds, we cut to a shot of the announcers for the evening.)
Kevin Cole: Two weeks away! We are only two weeks away from what promises to be a night that nobody will ever forget!
Nik Cain: And a night that may end a career or two...but all these guys know the price of admission when they step inside that FCW ring.
Kevin Cole: We’ve got a huge eight-man elimination main event but, to get things started, we have two of the six men who will compete in the World Tag Title match at Cruel and Unusual, Dream Warrior and Derrick Moore!
Nik Cain: More than a couple people have criticized Escar and Moore’s inclusion in this match. Do they deserve the shot? I don’t know. But I am definitely looking forward to seeing that pair of arrogant amateur wrestling stars get a crash course in so-called garbage wrestling.

("Signs" by Creed begins to blast over the speakers as the FCW-tron lights up. Scenes from Cruel and Unusual 2001 and 2002 are shown, focusing particularly on those matches involving the Paladin. Oblivion laying the Paladin out on the barbed wire cross and the Paladin returning the favor, Scourge being put into the Iron Maiden and having the door closed, these sights and others cause the stomachs of the timid, and not so timid, to twist. The screen goes blank to be replaced with the logo of the Crusaders. Both men give high fives to some fans as they head down towards the ring. They stop halfway towards the ring. The Paladin has a microphone in hand and, after a moment of soaking in the crowd reaction, begins to speak.)
The Paladin: You know the Crusaders got some good news this past week. We found out that we would be getting a crack at those cowards who needed a mad man to help them win the belts they now hold. At Cruel and Unusual 2003, the Nightmare Express and the Crusaders will go at it in a table death match to determine who will hold those most coveted belts!
(The crowd begins to cheer, but the Paladin uncharacteristically holds up a hand for silence. The crowd, somewhat confused, gives it to him.)
The Paladin: If that were it I might agree that cheering is in order; however, as long term FCW fans know, there is always another team involved in the tag title defense at Cruel and Unusual, and our other opponents are Escar and Moore. Now it was last week we beat these jobbers for the second time, and we'll be happy to beat them for a third time and become the newly crowned FCW World Tag Team champions... (the crowd begins to cheer loudly) ... BUT! We want a little something extra added in. With the cowardly, Oh I'm gonna piss my pants if I have to face the Paladin for more then five seconds, Express and the jobbers in this match we believe we should up the ante. Chaps you want to prove how tough you are. You want to show the world what bad asses you are? Then accept the offer I make! Table Death match? Bah! I want fire at Cruel and Unusual 2003, I want to burn and be burned! I want the smell of charred flesh to fill the arena! I want a Flaming Table Death Match! Bring it boys, because the Crusaders are going to be more then ready for you when you do!
(White, who has had a growing look of surprise and alarm on his face is now totally stunned. He looks ready to protest, but before he can the Paladin turns to leave The crowd is nearly deafening as the two leave ringside, thrilled at the prospect of such a match. Inside the ring, Derrick Moore looks more than a little concerned by this prospect. Dream Warrior tries to seize this opening, but Moore sees him coming out of the corner of his eye.)

Shane isn’t even a full-time wrestler anymore but he’s apparently the only man Crawford wants to give to the former Television and World Tag Champion. The two men are former stable-mates, so I suppose that also has something to do with this booking.

Nik Cain: Hazard will never back down from anyone, but I think that Pandora was afraid that Hazard would get hurt at the hands of the masked monster just two weeks before his big rematch with Mark Payne at this year’s Cruel and Unusual. If that is the case, that certainly would explain why Hazard is so upset right now. In any case, a disqualification damn sure won’t stop the match between Haz and Payne two weeks from tonight.
Kevin Cole: And, in two weeks, Jay Reno will take on The Messenger in an Angel of Death Match! But those two will also do battle right here, right now, and the Television Title will be on the line!
~~~~~
This contest is scheduled for one fall.
It is for the FCW Television Title.
Introducing first...
Weighing in at 224 pounds...
"Kid Kaos" Jay Reno
"Bow down before the one you serve.
You're going to get what you deserve!"
(Nine Inch Nails'
'Head Like a Hole' can be heard blasting from the speakers around the arena as
'Kid Kaos' Jay Reno makes his way toward the ring in preparation for his T.V
title shot. Before sliding through the ropes Reno grabs a steel chair from
ringside. Once inside the ring he unfolds the chair and sits on it motioning for
a microphone to be thrown to him from the ring announcer. With a smug look on
his face, Jay Reno then just sits waiting for his large opponent to appear. He
does not have to wait long as “Temple of the Morning Star” by Today is the Day
begins to play and The Messenger walks through the curtains, stalking
purposefully down the aisle.)
His opponent...
Hailing from parts unknown...
Weighing in at 272 pounds...
The FCW Television Champion...
The Messenger
('Kid Kaos' Jay Reno puts the mic to his lips as the music fades.)
Jay Reno: You're taking your time big man.
What's the matter? Are you not used to actually having to face me on equal terms
rather than using a sneak attack?
(A wide-eyed maniacal look consumes Reno, as he stands up and starts to berate
his larger opponent a deranged smile creeps over his face.)
Jay Reno: You're nothing Messenger! You're
just a thrall, a lapdog to jump through hoops for your master, a brainless thug
of a security guard who can't think for himself! So tonight I'm going to reveal
the limitations of your wrestling skills as I take that title off you. But then
at Cruel and Unusual I'll undo all the hurt you and your master have caused me
by taking away everything from you!
(By now, The Messenger has gotten to the
ringside area. However, in what seems like the blink of an eye, his quicker
opponent, with the steel chair still in his hand, comes off the ropes and in one
swift motion propels the chair towards the side of the ring that The Messenger
is about to enter. Then before the chair can hit the canvas, Jay Reno launches
himself into a frighteningly fast baseball slide that connects with the chair,
ramming it into the face of his oncoming opponent before he can even enter the
ring.)
Kevin Cole: Oh...my...goodness!
(The impact of the steel chair echoes around the arena and The Messenger is sent crashing into the safety barrier. As the crowd gasps before cheering, 'Kid Kaos' begins to laugh hysterically as he sees The Messenger slowly rise back to his feet with his face drenched in the blood that is seeping from his nose. Jay Reno beckons his opponent into the ring and the match officially begins.)
(Before Cole can continue, “Paint it Black” hits the airwaves of FCW as Hazard makes his way to the ring, carrying what appears to be a picture, covered by a piece of cloth, and a lunchbox. He's wearing simple jeans and a black sleeveless shirt that reads "one man riot" on the front in typewriter style letters, and on the back in the same style print reads "unbreakable". Comedy has rolled out of the ring and the Wrecking Crew hover around ringside, curious to see what will happen. Hazard gets into the ring and signals for the music to be cut and puts the house mic to work.)
Hazard: I'm only gonna tell ya once Mark...get out here!
(A slight delay adds minimal drama before the FCW Champion enters to strains of Clawfinger. No sooner has Payne stepped into the ring than Hazard begins.)
Hazard: Imagination and Willpower, Mark. I told you all about them, didn't I? And now, it's time for me to lay down the gauntlet. Make my official challenge. Cruel and Unusual is right up my alley, Mark. It's only fitting that I pick my poison...and yours...isn't it? Mark, it's time for you to own up to what you've gotten into. Do you know what kind of devil you're dealing with? Do you? If not...let me clue you in.
(Hazard steps in uncomfortably close, his voice rising as his diatribe goes on. It started calmly enough...but...well...)
Hazard: I'm a prick, Mark. I'm an egotistical, overbearing, self centered, ungrateful, bitter...violent...mildly psychotic...PROUD, MISERABLE, LYING, CHEATING, FIGHTING BLEEDING, LEGEND KILLING, UNBREAKABLE MACHINE. In short Mark, I'm everything you are...only better.
(Hazard gets pushed back by Mark Payne. We can’t hear Payne’s response but it’s enough to set Hazard’s blood boiling. He spears Payne into the corner and the two trade blows, neither man gaining an advantage until Hazard thumbs him in the eye, then follows with a couple of low blows. He continues to assault Payne until Payne's resistance has been lowered significantly. He retrieves his lunchbox, and opens it to reveal two short lengths of barbed wire. With them he ties Payne's hands to the top rope on each side of him and adds a few more kicks to keep him still. From there he uncovers the large, flat object which isn't a picture at all...but rather a large pane of glass. He props it up against Payne and grabs the mic. After he removes his shirt and throws it to the crowd, he speaks.)
Hazard: Imagination Mark...that means you and me at Cruel and Unusual...SPIDER WIRE GLASS CRASH DEATH MATCH. And willpower...well...I figure I ought to let you know what you're in for.
(With that, Hazard drops the mic and launches himself into Payne-and the glass-with a Stinger splash. Both men are cut immediately and badly, blood mixing and spilling rapidly. Hazard, however, is the one free to move. He pulls himself to his feet and stands on the apron with his arms open to the FCW crowd, drinking in the reaction before leaving Payne to the ring crew.)
Kevin Cole: Oh dear lord! Oh...dear...lord! I cannot believe what we’ve just witnessed!
Nik Cain: And it’s just a small taste of what’s to come. Cruel and Unusual might just be the end of both Payne and Hazard.
Kevin Cole: Maybe! Hazard is sick and Payne won’t back down no matter what! We are desperately out of time! Until next week, this is Kevin Cole for Nik Cain saying goodnight!
